Are you searching for the best smoking filters that reduce the harshness and tar from your rolled joints, while not leaving a dent in your pocket? Look no further than PEER Next, as we present to you export quality active carbon filters that are made using top quality eco-friendly raw materials, at a price that is more affordable than the imported competition. We are able to offer you competitive prices since we believe that like the Western countries where the concept of active carbon filters has become mainstream, India too will have a similar story. Thus the volumes will make up for the less margin made per filter. We are passing on the extra margin to end consumers so that using these filters becomes affordable to the masses. We are also able to remain competitive since the factors of production such as transportation costs, packing charges, and the outer cardboards are more competitively priced in India than say in Germany. At the same time, we have made no compromise in the quality. In fact, our raw materials are of the highest possible quality and the activated Coconut shell charcoal that we use is sourced from a reputable UK based supplier since 1965.
THE BELOW ARE SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are active carbon smoking filters and are they really effective?
Active carbon filters or ACFs as they are commonly called, work on the principle of absorption. These are numerous minute pores in ‘activated’ charcoal which are formed as the coal is exposed to high temperatures in oxygen-less containers. When any pollutant passes through these pores in the form of gas or liquid, a portion of these pollutants gets absorbed into these pores, thereby reducing the level of pollutants that can pass through after this filtration process. Thus the smoke that comes out of these filters is still harmful, but it is relatively less harmful and some of the tar etc. has been filtered. This is hence a harm reduction tool.
Are carbon filters better than roaches?
Roaches are simply folded paper or cardboard often made out of business cards or notebook covers. Technically they do not have any filtering mechanism and are thus merely holders for the joint/blunt and not filters. They are the most economical use as they are free of cost. Carbon filters on the other hand use activated charcoal with magnified absorption properties that filters part of the tar and other toxins making the drag smoother and relatively less harmful, and the 2 ceramic caps acts as an insulator for excess heat. There is a saying that a filter is the foundation to a good joint. Why not use actual ‘filters’ which not only give the perfect shape, but also that balances heat, and reduces tar and harshness. Our company slogan for these filters is: “once you switch, you will never turn back".
What are the other applications or uses of activated charcoal?
Active carbon filters (ACFs) have a wide range of acceptability as they are capable of reducing the pollutants in both gaseous as well as liquid form. They work on the concept of absorption and are used extensively in air purifiers, water treatment plants, air conditioners, odour control devices, alcohol purification, industrial applications such as in the metals industry etc. They have also been in use as smoking filters for pipes, and since 2020 are being increasingly used as smoking filters for rolled joints.
Do activated carbon smoking filters reduce the effect of the joint and alter the taste?
As per select secondary research, these active carbon filters are great in filtering a fair amount of organic molecules via the concept of absorption, but are not efficient in filtering everything. This quality makes these filters unique and efficient in filtering a great deal of tar and other carcinogens, while not filtering what you would not want filtered. Hence you will not feel a difference in impact of your desired high/nicotine rush effect. Some filters might even reduce the taste, or add an additional ‘burnt’ taste to your joint, however PEER Next filters also do not alter the taste of your joint in any way.
Why are active charcoal filters so expensive?
The cheapest option is of course the typical cardboard roaches. People make them from business cards to book covers, and they do not cost anything. But accordingly is the usefulness of roaches – they do zero filtration as there is no filtering mechanism installed. It is simply a holder for the joint. Active carbon filters on the other hand are a recent product innovation with value additions such as 2 side ceramic caps and activated charcoal, which balance the heat, reduce tar and other carcinogens, and make the drag smoother. These materials are expensive and hence a higher cost. However, a part of the cost is also contributed by the profits the foreign brands make and the higher cost of final packing and transportation in Western countries. We at PEER Next believe in keeping our margins to the minimal and are able to save on final packing and transportation costs since these costs are generally lower in India, and are therefore able to pass some of those savings to end consumers by offering a competitive retail price while providing the best export-quality products. We believe that in order for the product category to become mainstream the retail price needs to be in a price sweet spot so that more and more adult users can choose a less harmful alternative and switch from basic roaches to active carbon filters.
